Being a Mother

After having a taste of motherhood, I must agree that all mothers are so wei da.. I cant imagine how olden days ppl can take care of so many children plus they need to do household chores..

I had been trying to juggle between doing household chores and taking care of estelle alone during my maternity leave. I guess kids back those days are easier to take care compared to kids these days. Kids these days are so smart.. There bound to be a day that estelle will outspoke me and may even talk back like we did to our parents. *Sad*

The initial stage while taking care of Estelle after the confinement lady left was overwhelming. Home alone with Estelle puts me on panic attacks and post pregnancy blues.. Although Andy had kept telling me that I am doing well, I just cant convinced myself that I am plus taking care of an infant seems like a guessing game (since they dun know how to talk) brought down my morale.

As time passed, I learnt that taking care of an infant needs to go easy. Being too paranoid will impose unnecessary stress. The PD had also brought up my morale when he says Estelle is doing well and catching up with others thou she had started small.. She had gain almost 2x her birth weight at 2mths which most babies do at 3 mths.. *Happy*

Although tired, all efforts seems gradually paid off.. I took a longer route (2 mths) than others to establish my milk supply but I had finally achieved to put Estelle on total breastfeeding.. Estelle had also been trained to sleep thru out the night at 2 mths.. Most importantly she seems to acknowledge the efforts with smiles and responses.. No wonder ppl says your heart will melt when u see your baby smiles. So first time mothers out there, hang on as your efforts will be paid off too!

And before who knows.. I am going back to work soon.. I had not rest well yet!! Luckily, now I managed to catch up some breath and learn driving while Estelle is in infant care. Infant care teachers had compliment that she is a good girl, even the cleaner also told me.. haha.. luckily no complaints.. She really is my little angel..

The beginning of Motherhood

Entering into the 3rd week of motherhood and I am still trying to get the hang of it with surrounding everything abt Estelle. Luckily with the help of the confinement lady I am able to take a nap or so, blogging, clearing office emails, etc. Most impt I do not need to worry abt my meals. Its a luxury for this 1 mth confinement period. Cant imagine life after the confinement lady left. I have to admit that I am abit worried to be home alone with Estelle as a first time mother. But again, its all in the mind.. I guess will just have to go with the flow and I will sail thru smoothly.. For the time being, I will learn as much as I could from the confinement lady and had told her that from next week onwards I will be 'in full' force to take care of Estelle so as to get myself prepared.

As a mother, expressing milk is 1 of the major task and its 1 of the tedious task for me cause I am low in supply!! I had been trying to drink more liquid and soup, rest more and increasing the frequency of pumping to every 2hrs, get someone to unclog the milk ducts, but everything was in vain.. Moreover, the frequent pumping makes me sore. Even the pump had wear off within 2 weeks and I gotta get a new pump for 'heavy usage'.. but still supply didnt increase. Desperately, I seek help from the lactation consultant at TMC yesterday. They recommended me to take Fenugreek to boast the supply. Currently had seen a slight increase, hopefully over the next few days I will have enough supply to meet Estelle's demand.. Breastfeeding is exhausting and needs alots of patience especially dealing with low supply.. It is so stressful and sad.. Hopefully, my goal of total breastfeeding shall succeed in days to come.. Wish me luck!

My Pride, My Proud - Estelle Yee

3.15am, 27 June 2010 (Sunday), 37weeks and 5 days pregnant, mild contraction creeps in. The contraction gradually becomes regular and more intense with every hour passed. Ard 9.30am bloody show begins to appear and at 10plus we made our way to the hospital.

Upon admitted, the mid wife had checked that the opening is about 2cm so we have to wait in the labour ward for the gynae. Before the gynae arrives the pain was so intense that I requested for Entonox The gynae arrives at 2pm plus and again checked the opening, this time rd was abt 3cm. He suggested to speed up the labour by inducing and breaking the water bag. The given estimated time of delivery was 7-8pm in the evening.

Once labour was induced the pain became unbearable that again I requested for another pain relief - Pethidine. Its an injection that will help to relief partial labour pain for 4-6 hrs. Within half an hour, the nurses told Andy that I am ready for delivery. At that time, I was high and drowsy by breathing in Entonox that I couldnt concentrate on my thoughts and breathing but could only hear voices.

In the delivery ward, Andy kept reminding me to control and concentrate on my breathing while I gripped tightly onto his hands. I could hear the nurses telling Andy that I am doing very well and determined moreover considering its my first birth.

While waiting for the gynae to come, the urge of pushing was so strong that I kept pushing. The moment the gynae arrives, he was just in time to catch the baby while I pushed out. Thereafter Andy cuts the umbilical cord and the gynae delivers the placenta and stitching up. As the deliver was too fast, the gynae didnt have the time to do a cut and estelle was forced thru leaving a tear about 0.5-1cm away fr the anus. While the gynae was stitching, estelle was brought for measurement and cleaning. Shortly, we are brought to the ward.

After being discharged for 2 days, I had a taste of motherhood by facing the 'ong ah, ong ah' song every 2-3 hrs or so, changing diapers, breastfeeding, etc. While Andy plays with her after work.

Life shall nv be the same again with the arrival of estelle.. It will be even better cause we are the ACE Family!! Andy, Cassandra, Estelle.

My First Pregnancy Journal - Third Trimester

At 36.5 weeks now, I began to missed my old self. Moving ard without a hitch, get my hair done irregardless whether rebonding, curling or dying, painted nails, wearing high heels, eating sashimi, crabs, drunken prawns and of course the slimmer version of me..

At this advanced stage, sleeping had become a challenge with more frequent toilet trips and the cracking plus aching of pelvic bone when tossing and turning. There goes the 'oooosss and ahhsss' when lying, getting out of bed or after prolong sitting. Often I always joke with my colleagues that I need to warm up my engine before I can start walking or rather waddle. Such discomfort was due to 'lightening' whereby the baby head had dropped down and engage into the pelvis.

See.. pregnancy comes with a huge price to pay and a long list of complaints for that 40 weeks, so husbands out there cherish, love and be more patient to ur wives for they had made sacrifices.. While for those mothers to be, hang on there as time files and remb to control ur emotions and temper. First time mothers remb to read up so u will know what u r going thru. Childbirth class is a gd option for practical aspect.

I guess I will also missed the baby kicks and squirming after giving birth. Giving life is such a miracle, when a fertilised embryo develops to alive kicking baby.. But giving life is only the beginning, the tedious part will be the upbringing of the child. Its an ART.

The generation y kids are witty, outspoken, loud, daring, I.T savvy. However, those beautiful personalities like being humble, initiative, enduring hardship, well manners seems to be missing in them. They are well packaged on the outside but fragile inside. Blame it on the changing environment?

Well at least for me, I will try to implant these basic values and morals to my next generation. I am more of a hands on person and prefer to start from grd zero so that I can equip with more skills and knowledge. Also am a strong believer of moral and being well mannered is above academic.

Of course academic is so impt these days, that often ppl had associated it with wealth. The better u excel in studies, the more u earn. We cant deny the fact that those well academic started off better and much more easier. But think again, there r alot of cases that well educated ppl are blinded by greed which brings them down. Thus, such cases still voice down to our basic values and morals. Y in those kampong days, neighbours do not need to close the doors and not worrying theft? Think...

Anyway, back to pregnancy.. A full term pregnancy is considered from 37weeks to 40 weeks. Hopefully, as the time arrives I can give birth without the help of epidural. Wish me a smooth delivery.. I am ready, are you with me?

My First Pregnancy Journal - Second Trimester

"2nd trimester is the honeymoon period", says most mothers.

I totally agreed.. I sailed thru the 2nd trimester with a breeze apart from heartburn, indigestion and aching, which are still bearable.

Heartburn and indigestion started of in the early stages of 2nd trimester. The feeling of heatburn was terrible as it seems like heart attack. The heart will start to pump very hard and there will be difficulty in breathing. The remedy - Gaviscon. Alternatively, natural remedies like avoid spicy food, chocolates, acidic food and have smaller frequent meals can be adopted.

Most of the time during the 2nd trimester, I will spend my time lying on the bed as my bum and back tends to ache alot.. Andy often jokes that he is going to get a wheelchair for me so that I can move ard easily. Anyway, my gynae had advised me not to move and walk alot as I had low placenta. Too much movement may cause the placenta to deattach from the uterus and bleed easily.

I think the most 'miracle' experience in this trimester is to feel the baby kicks. Initally, its fluttering sensation. As the baby grows, these feeling will turn to full blown kicks and samuersaults. Am starting to count and monitor the frequency of the kicks to ensure the well being of the baby. Studies had shown that babies should at least kick 10 times in every 2hrs.
Dont be surprise they actually got hipcups too and can be determine by the way of their kicks.

As I enter into the early stages of 3rd trimester now, I am getting clumsier & heavier as the baby is putting weight fast. My energy level starts to falls too.. Luckily, we had did most of the shopping during the Baby fairs in March.. So now we are only left with decorating the baby room and packing those baby stuffs..

2more months to go and I will be on maternity leave.. oh.. and tomorrow we will be starting our childbirth education course.. hopefully we can absorb like a sponge with all the knowledge impart, practically..

GoGo Tiger - Roaring Year Ahead

Oh boy.. I am definitely in the holiday mood already, cant wait for CNY.. Despite the fact that we gotta give red packets this year.. but why bother since its only an yearly joyous ocassion.. Not to forget spring cleaning too.. and yes, even am preggy I am not spared (dont think I got the privilege to shake leg at home and do nothing hor, Andy always go the hard way and nv spoil his loved ones).. This is one similar characteristics we have..

So our 'poor' baby girl gotta learn and grow up in the hard way.. but she sure got a doting grandparents(my parents) whom had bought her clothes and even a 24k tiger year display ornament already.

Back to CNY, am going to indulge to those new year goodies this year without guilt(*cross finger* hopefully can shred those fats after pregnancy) since am already 'auntie-in-the-making'. No Figure, No looks. Sigh.. What a price to pay!!

Besides food, love those CNY songs that bring out the festive mood and I will sing along plus dance to the groove. As baby has develop hearing, hopes that she can hear and enjoys as much as I do..

My First Pregnancy Journal - First Trimester

Am breaking the silence for the first time to mark the 3months taboo..The past 3 months had been dreadful and terrible..

The first trimester was never easy and I am glad that I had been through it..I used to think that I had quite high tolerance level till morning sickness hit me real hard.. The sickness followed me through day and night which makes me unable to concentrate on what I am doing and lost interest, patience in everything.

I guess it was written all over my face that some of my close colleagues realized that something was wrong.. and yes.. those mothers got it right..

At some point of time during this 3 months, I really felt like giving up.. I felt so sick, so uncomfortable. It was worsen when I developed fever and enzema..The itch was killing..There was too much for me to take it.. and this got me thinking.. Why the birth rate is getting lower despite much effort by the govt.
1. Responsibility & Commitment - There's alot to give up once you decided to bring life.. time, enjoyment, freedom, leisure, etc. Basically, the baby come first. Alot of young parents had transferred this responsibility to their parents
2. Financial - Bringing up a child needs alot of $$ especially if they constantly fall sick. Its definitely a long term investment.

Alright, here's my findings or rather complaints for the first trimester:

Week 1-4
- Slight pain in stomach
- Dizzy
- Mild Headache
- Sore Bust

Week 5-12
- Morning sickness
- Sore Bust
- Backache
- Pain on left side of the bum
- Frequent urination
- Heartburn/indigestion = sleepless nights

Had celebrated Andy's birthday by organising BBQ with some of his close friends at my mum's place.. Didnt have time to take photos because i am his 'maria' on that day, busy serving SIR.. hehe..

For his birthday present, I bought him a Mont Blanc pen

While for me, we just went out for a simple dinner and my birthay present is a Burberry Bluelabel bag..

I would like to take this opportunity to thank a group of sweet colleagues who bought me ntuc vouchers, flowers and treated me for lunchie..and to all whom had given us your wishes and blessing on our birthdays..

I guess the most memorable wishes to me came from Team 4 colleagues who sang me Birthday song while in the lift and my mum who also sang me Birthday song thru my mobile while i am on the way to work.. ;P

Went to Baby Tristan 1yr birthday party at Pasir Ris chalet yesterday. I guess its the 'hip' place to have parties there, as almost every unit are celebrating babies/children birthday.

Downdown east has changed quite abit ever since my last visit abt 2 yrs ago. But too bad didnt managed to racke the whole place due to time constraint.

While having our dinner, one of my auntie took out a chinese newspaper and show us these:

Yeah, its our humble flat. Surprise surprise..

Months ago, Northwest hired a professional photographer to take shoots of our flat as they are publishing a magazine to publicise their works. To our surprise before they launch the magazine, our flat is already in the papers.

I immediately called our Interior designer jokingly asked for commission, since they had used these pics to do an advertisement for their 3days promotion. In return, we earned a free meal instead..better than nothing la, wahaha..

We have to admit thumbs up for the service of our ID, Sylvia from Northwest. Even thou, our flat had completed renovation 8 mths ago, whenever, we called her to rectify some problems or defect she will still follow thru and check whether is everything ok after the rectification. This after service is very important. Unlike some other companies after the work is completed and paid, you couldnt get them to rectify even they had promised a DLP earlier.

Unity is the key to success, called out PM Lee in the National day message. Indeed, the economic may seems to be stabilised but the outlook seems cloudy..

But it definitely doesnt dampen the Singaporean spirits to celebrate the nation's birthday.. What's more its public holiday on Monday!! Woohoo.. alots of Singaporeans must had taken this opportunity to go for a short getaway.

For Andy and me, we passed our day by spring cleaning the house and playing Facebook.. We had recently hooked up on the games in FB ever since Andy got his new laptop (when i had to use his old laptop '_').

I was too engrossed with playg FB today that i forgot to say the pledge at 8.22pm with all the Singaporeans.. I promised that i will recite the pledge even if i am out leh..OMG..Forgive me Singapore.. hehe.. I luv u, Singapore..my country, my homeland..

Singapore had came so far, thanks MM Lee for your great vision and leadership. May u stay pink in health, Mr Lee..

Enjoy ur holidays ppl, time for bed. Tml will be a busy day.. going yum cha, do some office work and cook Claypot rice for dinner.. See thats the reason y we are getting fatter!!

Beijing, Chengde, Tianjin 之旅

Why? Is the response we got when people knows that we are going China for our Honeymoon.
Not surprised at all, as I will be asking the same question too if I were them.

Well, besides the 2 of us are going, my parents are going for their '2nd honeymoon' too. haha. Thus, China is the place that 4 of us had not been before.

On the 2nd day after our customary wedding, we headed straight from Marina Mandarin (ohh..MM provided good service for our wedding) to catch our SQ flight.

Flight journey took abt 5-6 hrs. There is only 6 pax in our tour grp. U tend to get our attention when in a smaller grp.. good..The other 2 are aunties frm spore. 1 of them stayed in califonia for 45yrs already.. The tour guide said she was once featured in a local variety programme on introducing Beijing a few yrs back.

We spent most of our time in Beijing, a night in Chengde and a day tour in tianjin.
This tour had enriched us with more historical and cultural knowledge and there is not much shopping at all.. *sad*

Talking abt shopping, the things there are more expensive in beijing unless you can accept those 'chiong' stuff. Funny thing is thou we are staying in the heart of the Olympics village there are not much shopping centres but only food, hotels and of course stadiums.

Never shall I forget the reckless drivers, the honing on the congested roads, the countless Audis on the road, the trend of hotels having the revolving entrance, the thousand hands guanyin performance by the deaf and dumb pretty ladies, nice mac pies that are not available in spore and the feng shui practice that the chinese nationals deeply believed.

I guess the 4 of us had put on wieght too as they had been feeding us with large food portion which they normally always had.

Its time for diet again and let the photos to speak more....

Thanks to all for celebrating and sharing our joyeous occassion with us on 17th May 09.. and yes we are back from our honeymoon(shall blog in another post).

Brothers and sisters u all had been great, making everything went smoothly.

Thanks Jimmy and Sammi from whitelink for giving us a beautiful wedding, thanks Wendy and all staffs of marina mandarin for a cosy and warm wedding.. thanks Kevin, the videographer from yappies production and Andy, the photographer for making me laugh and smile coz quite stress that day..camera shy too..cant smile leh.. and they had to keep reminding me to smile.. hehe..

It had been a wonderful and gan cheong day especially for dinner. Like what the emcee says, we did prepare a thank you speech but Andy freaked out and changed his mind after the 1st march in.. but still kena sabo by the emcee..Nevertheless, we gotta thanks Jason for giving us the 'gut' to go ahead.. haha

As for me, I know i cant speak well. I prefer to pen my feelings down thou my 'en-ger-lish' is broken lah..

We hope everyone had enjoyed the food, highlights and music.

Items reqd: New bedsheet, 'Fa' kuai, Red dates, Longan, Dried Lily, Peanut, Dried Persimmon

Procedure: To get an elderly who is very fortunate and 'xing fu' to place 4 ang baos with 2 'qian bi' each at all corners of the bed and say some good wishes. Place the tray of things in the middle of the bed and leave it for at least 1 day. U can get a small boy to jump on the bed but we skip that as it may not be necessary.

Alright thats all for the post, gotta go busy with other things already. chaoz!

1 down.. Finally 过大礼 is over..

Wedding preparations is so tiring and its not fun.. coming to think of it how we wish that we could juz go for honeymoon and save the whole preparation process.. but actually i am not very into tour also.. not a adaptive person when it comes to sleeping in a foreign country, i still prefer my own bed. hehe

Thanks to my parents and Andy's gu ma to help us through the guo da li process.. we didnt know the customs well and time wasnt at our side.. They went through the hassle to buy most of the things for us.. and my poor parents gotta clean up the house without my help. I really feel bad that i didnt have the time to help and pay attention to the details of the preparations. My focus was diversified.

Ok.. I think i better not make customary wedding preparation so daunting.. coz lots of our friends are planning to getting married soon.. hehe

Alright, the timing given for our GDL is 9am-1pm by our feng shui master. Andy went to collect the cakes in the morning to ensure the freshness so that we can distribute to our relatives in the later part of the day..

I luv the packaging of the cake and my papa luv the mochi so much that he ate 3 out of 4 of them at 1 go.. As for the butter cake is abit dry but still taste not bad lah..

The past 2 mths had been terribly busy, not with our wedding preparations, but its all abt work.. so much so that i had neglected my preparations.. My parents had to keep reminding me to do this to do that.

On top of it, not to say i didnt have time to blog and update. But, today i am determined to blog(juz a short one) thou its like 11pm now. For those who know me well, i shld be sleeping by this time already..haha

This coming fri, which is labour day will be our Guo Da Li day.. and i have not cleared my room yet.. gosh.. but anyway we had bought most of the stuffs.. shall update again..

On Fri(the day before v day) a conversation among my colleagues (3 of us)..

Dap: Cass, where is your v day flowers?
Cass: Tml (14th Feb 09)..(jokingly)
Dap: U sure? who knows since its not sent to the office

Dap: Who knows she juz anyhow take any flowers and says its hers.
Cass: I think i am not that bo liao...

So.. is having flowers very impt on v day? I would say its rather impt while dating.. but when u are married, flowers are juz bonuses or rather optional.. u will be happy and suprised the moment when u received the flowers but after second thoughts u will be thinking 'hey y r u spending these unnecessary $$'.. I think the vendors are much happier on v day to 'chop' ppl like carrots.. hee..

However..to my surprise.. in the morning of v day. i found a bouquet of flowers on the bed.. so Andy is one of the carrot tooo....

(Dap, this is taken on my bed ok.. no gimmicks.. ha)

Actually, this v day we didnt have plans. At least to us its juz another day.. thus i didnt get andy anything too.. hehe.. but i made up by paying his tailor made shirts for the wedding in the later part of the day at Penisula Shopping centre since he gave me a bouquet of flowers too and we landed ourselves at Kushibo @ Jurong Point for dinner.. We told u..Its juz another day..

Oh.. btw.. Congrats to Debroah and Andy on your union on Vday..Our apologies for not attendg..(u know y right)..Cheers!!

牛年到了。。新年快乐。。

Surprisingly, this yr we still got ang bao to take.. hehe.. coz based on tradition we are still entitled.. Thanks ppl for being so 'traditional'.. We luv u.. ;P

Hope everyone is having a good time during the cny.. Lots of goodies and feasts.. Yummy yummy..
Seems like our diet had been 'sidetrack' again..We have been controlling our diet as we are taking our wedding photo end of this mth but the festive goodies keep tempting us leh.. Its high time to 借口 liao.. or else cant fit into the gown..

Renovation had been completed on the 1st week of Dec.. and we are now staying in our home now..

Renovation and shifting was a tiring thing.. Nv do we wanna shift house again.. Currently its only the 2 of us shifting our belongings and we were so tired and wore off cant imagine if we gonna move a home to another home..(-.-)..

As instructed by the feng shui master we did our prayers on 8th Dec and 'cross over' the stove on 10th Dec..Huat ah!!

On the 13th Dec, Andy borrowed his company's lorry and we shifted all barang barang to our hse..

Thou we are now comfortably settled down..and.. There goes the days that we dont have to do our washing and cleaning.. Sigh..

On the whole, we are very pleased with our home..lots of effort had been put in by the ID.. the credit definitely gotta go to her for being responsible and patient entertaining Andy, who is so fussy..and for me who keep bargaining.. haha.. So thumbs up for her service, Sylvia from Northwest Interior...

Progress for the next 2 wks: Installation of false ceiling and carpentry works.

After much research, we had bought most of the stuffs, from lightings to electrical appliances. Oh btw went Ikea to buy their kitchen cabinet system on fri.. love them so much!! thou the ID had included those normal shelving system in their package we still prefer Ikea's kitchen system.. Nice and Neat..

Its nice to see a home gradually being built, but the cost for renovation of a house is also very 'xiong'.. Paying and Paying.. Now pockets all 'lobang'.. But we believe that a home is a long term investment with quality products. No point settle on a cheaper stuff but end of the day gotta pay more to rectify the prob right!

Hopefully, we will 'recover' in time for our wedding next yr! ;P

Busy busy day!! We went to lay the "coins" on the place indicated by the feng shui master in the morning so that the tilers can start work in the later part of the day.

It was said that some areas will need some boast in luck so we need to place the coins beneath the screeding and tiles. This can only be done by Andy himself.

Feng Shui

A brief post-dated entry...

Last sat.. the feng shui master came to our new flat to give us some feng shui guidance.

According to him the following are his readings:

1. The flat is quite ok not much 'xiong' areas, but only the dining area is quite dim
2. The kitchen is a good area which shows that most likely we will have 70% baby boy, 30% baby girl
3. Kitchen cabinets has to be in brown colour and 'L' Shaped.
4. All walls to be painted with light yellow or beige colour.
5. Etc.. List too long

Overall, both of us suits brown, yellow & white colour.. This applies to whatever items, clothes, etc. So i think Andy gotta revamp his wardrobe coz all his clothes are in BLACK!! Haha

We need to buy some 'ji xiang wu' to place at some areas to boast our luck. Luckily not very expensive..

The whole session took abt 3hrs and the feng shui master earns $500++ from us.. Seems like they are earning big bucks huh..Somemore that is after discount cos he is a distance relative.. On the whole, we are happy with his service and his readings are quite accurate for us..

** A little tipped off from the feng shui master whom dont know Andy at all**
Andy is ego, 'da nan ren', 'guan jia gong', a person who can lead but muz control his temper. If i were to quarrel with him, i am gonna lose.. so its best to agree with him.. *sweat* what is this.. but i gotta agree with him.. 99.99% accuracy!!

Went for tiles selection with the ID yesterday at Hafary. It was so packed with ppl and they do have quite a wide range of tiles..

The ID started introducing the tiles and saying that for our package we could select tiles up to $2.70/pc. Anything above that we needa top up the difference..*walking ard to check the prices* and we are like WHAT! All the tiles available are above $2.70 except 2 tiles. So what does that means? "The hidden cost".. again.. Gosh.. but of course we know.. thats how the ID earns their commissions..

End of the day we choose a $3/pc tile and we gotta top up another $170.. luckily not much..give and take abit lah.. ppl also earning a living mah..

After that we went for lunch and headed to a lighting shop that the ID recommended to take alook..

Over there we have bigger findings.. their lightings are damn expensive.. while we are looking at a squarish downlight.. the sales person told us its $30/pc.. then a grp of family came over with another sales person to look at the similar downlight and the sales person told that family it cost $35/pc.. SEE! That's how they chop ppl like carrot.. so the next time if u going to buy any lightings pls look for shops w price tag coz this shop dont.. We are definitely not going back there.

So today i visited some webbies to do research.. managed to find some lighting shops under RENOTALK & SINGAPOREBRIDES Forum.. these forums provide very good feedbacks..For those who are really tight with budget and want to employ ID its best to do lots of homework coz there are definitely some hidden and markup cost by ID..

*Back to yesterday*

We went to courts to look at mattresses..The sales person who served us says that the material of all mattresses are brought from the same company. The only difference is how the mattresses are maufactured.. Its best to buy mattresses with individual spring so that the springs will be compressed based on body posture.

After lying and sitting on almost all the mattresses we set our eyes on Slientnight Monique Mattress. The best way to know which mattress is the best is to lie on it and once it give u a comfy feeling, that's the one! Plus.. for this mattress, u wouldnt even feel any movement fr ur partner..

What's more its definitely the best buy..cos this mattress usual price is $2169 and now courts is having a Hari raya sales and it is selling at $1269 and FOC 2 kingkoil pillows + mattress protector..

Unbelieveable!!!

Open sesame with the magical keys..

We heeded our feng shui master advice and guidance and open the door of our flat last sat, 13th Sept 2008, 9-11am........

We brought along:
A bag of mixture of rice, tea leaves, salt
2 pineapples
8nos of oranges
1 bunch of banana

We enter the door with the left leg in first and say 'fa', place all the fruits in the middle of the living/dining room, open all windows and start to throw the bag of mixture to all corners of the flat. Begin with the master bedroom.

Then we begin to check for defects. There are some hollow tiles, crack lourves, etc to be rectify. Apart from that there are no major issues.

Thereafter, we left for lunch, leaving 1 pineapple there to allow it to 'fa'.. HUAT ah!!!

The Keys

Went to HDB this morning for the signing of agreement and collection of house keys at 8am.. So Tired.. But the tired-ness didnt dampen our happy-ness.. Ah finally.. what a coincidence that HDB actually arrange for the collection of keys right after the next day of our ROM.

7 sets of 3nos of keys... Even comes in a nice pouch..

ROM Day + Birthday

Woke up at 7am today.. Trying to do all the last min preparation. Paint my nails, shave my leg hairs coz wear dress today mah. ha..ok getting too personal..

BTW today is also my birthday.. Mama made me mee suay w meatballs & abalone..

ROM at 325pm, so abt 1pm I reached Whitelink for make up and hair do while Andy do his hair at Ben's place. Andy came to pick me up late at Whitelink and thus we reached 10mins late at ROM.. To worsen the whole matter, he forgotten to bring his IC. We need the IC to register. Luckily, he managed to get his friend to send us the IC in 10mins and ROM had a grace period of 30mins.

The solemnization takes less than 2mins.. so fast.. while we took hrs for preparations..

We kept the ROM simple within our family members. Didnt invite friends coz its on a weekday. Didnt want them to take the trouble to apply leaves..

The day ended with a dinner at Orchid Country Club...

5 Days More

5 days more to ROM...Today, we are on leave to do some preparation for ROM..

Reached ROM abt 9plus.. was totally packed with couples.. old and young.. Some came to verify documents like us while others came to 'som pa'... We got a slight arguement there coz i put 2 $0.50 parking coupon instead of 1 $1 coupon.. then kena scolding.. crazy andy.. so 'im chim'.. sometimes i really wonder how i going to face and deal his stupid 'im chim-ness' for the rest of my life.. so Mr Yee if u r readg this.. pls improve on that or we will have a hard time quarrelling over these stupid things again.. o_o

After verification, we headed town for long john sliver breakfast.. yummy yummy i muz say.. especially the 'Big Fish' meal.. thumbs up.. Currently, they are promoting their $3 meal which comprises a cup of orange juice and half sandwich of its usual meal..hmm seems like LJS shld give me some commission for promoting for them.. hee.

We hit the stores to buy my ROM heels after breakfast.. Went to Robinsons(centrepoint)->John Little -> Metro(paragon). Finally set my eyes on these pairs of shoes at metro, cost me $100plus after a 10% discount.

About noon, we reached whitelink to try the ROM gown and jacket.. Hmm.. after going to ROM this morning we realised that we might be over dressed if we were to wear what was provided by the bridal studio. How? Cham?

Home Renovation Contractor

To get a group of individual trade contractors or an ID cum contractor?

This qns had been spinning in our heads. Its definitely a fight between saving costs vs saving time, co-ordination works, etc

Eventually, we set our minds on the latter. Pay the ID Contractor and get them to bear the whole responsible for the reno works.

We had shortlisted three ID firms:
1. Chew Interior
2. Meng Design & Build
3. NorthWest Design & Build

We are not going to compare these 3 firms on the blog in case later kena sued for inflamming but we are definitely willingly to share with u guys privately.

Anyway, we ended signing with Northwest yesterday as they had a promotion for their newly opened branch @ Tradehub21. The promotion is comprehensive and offered more savings.. hehe..The ID who spoken to us is also well knowledge and attentive. Hopefully she doesnt change her attitude after we signed the contract.

The 3D design will be out 2 weeks later and on the other hand we will be also going for our 2nd appointment to sign the loan with HDB..

Our Love Nest

Getting a HDB flat was nv an easy task..

U have to apply->get ballot no ->monitor the progress->racke the neighbourhood of the flat u wanna get. The worst part is to wait for ur appointment while worrying the unit u wanted will be taken up by others..

Finally after such a long wait, we manage to get our hse on 2nd Jun 2008..

Its a five room flat @ Taman Jurong. Thou we are unable to get the flr we wanted (the highest unit that we could get was 4th sty) but at least its something more 'decent' as compared to the units available near Andy's hse..

And yes for those who are 4D Lovers.. Here comes ur luckyyyy no: 0463.. Thats our unit no.. Dont forget abt us huh if u guys strike!! My Mum told me these 4 digits are quite a popular..

Application of HDB, The Banquet & Bridal Studio

It's been quite a long time since we had updated the blog..so we will be blogging a few issues at one go..

We(our rather me) had been busy doing research for the wedding while andy is busy monitoring the availablity of the HDB's flats. Oh, before i go further we had applied for the Bi-Monthly Sale (Sector A) where HDB releases some surplus flats @ the West region of Spore(eg: Jurong, Woodlands, etc). There are 5708plus applications fighting for 490units. *_*

Guess what..

Selection Time: 3.30pm

We are hoping to get flats at Jurong West, which currently left with the maximum units available. Till date there are 196units available.. so we have 1 more wk to struggle.. Everyday looking at the available units was like looking shares. The lesser the units available the deeper our heart falls..haha.. Wish us luck!!

After sourcing for wedding banquets and doing some comparsions, we had more or less confirmed of getting Marina Mandarin. Thus, We attended the Marina Mandarin wedding show to taste the food and check out what they exactly offer.

The wedding show was held at their grand ballroom with booths at the cocktail reception area that sells bridal services, wines, etc..
We must say we are totally impressed with the sharkfins Marina Mandarin (MM) services. It comes in pcs form instead of what we normally see - watery/starchy and a few strings of sharkfins..

After the wedding show, we wanted to discuss and sign up the banquet package with the catering sales manager..but..to our despair.. the dates we wanted are booked.. thus she had given me a few dates for us to check with the feng shui master whether is it suitable for us. To cut the story short, after a few 'ding dongs' and meet up sessions with Wendy, our banquet co-ordinator, we managed to fixed the date on 17th May 2009 @ Vanda Ballroom.

Also at the show we had signed up with WhiteLink for the bridal package @ $3988.. Initially we wanted to look for Bridal Studios @ Malaysia to cut down our cost, but Jimmy, our co-ordinator who was soooo sincere managed to persuade us to sign the package. On top of that we are too lazy to go in and out of Malaysia.

So.. we are officially now Groom & Bride of Marina Mandarin & Whitelink!!

Lotus Restaurant is one of my dad's favourite hang out place.
He is a vegetarian so we fixed the venue at the vegetarian restaurant, thou andy detest to eat vegetarian food.. Bo Bian mah.. hehe.. Actually its not much of 'tan pan' but more of a small 'get to know' and discussion session.

We met to discuss what my parents wanted for the wedding. As usual traditional practice, my mum asked for cakes, oranges, etc and of course we are a teochew thus we asked for 'Si Dian Jin'.
Before this discussion my parents had a slight 'heaty' discussion over the stuff required. My mum was tradition while my dad was modern. My dad trys to abolish the tradition (i.e: roast pig) to make things simple while my mum believes we shld follow the tradition requirements. Anyway they still managed to compromise and come out with the list. No matter what they required I believed they wanted the best for us, be it modern or tradition. Sometimes, traditional stuffs might not be logical but every single thing represents something correct.

The discussion went smoothly and to be frank nothing much was discussed coz my mum written everything that is needed on a pc of red paper already and Andy's Gu ma will be asking for the wedding dates on our behalf.
As for Andy and Me, we can start our research!!

The Proposal

29th February 08 - We are the first few having a ride at the flyer before they even officially operates. After the ride, we headed down to St James Power Station, Dragonfly, where we met his and my friends as well as his cousin. As usual, its super packed and some live telecast of fights.

Slightly after midnight there's commotion very near our table. I suppose a guy got drank and hit on the other guy and there's when the fight started. Sufang and me quickly 'siam' before we kena hit too. After the fight i keep bugging andy to go home. Its not safe there and i am very tired already. But he keep insisted that we go home after another round of live performance. *_*

All of the sudden while we are watching the live performance, William Scorpion made an announcement.
WS: Where is Andy and Cassandra?
Andy: *Wave*
Cass: Was shock, *Wave*
WS: Cassandra, Andy would like to proposed to u. Will u marry him?
Andy: On his knees with a diamond ring
Cass: Shouted-ok
WS: Cassandra do u accept his proposal? (apparently he didnt get me)
Cass: Shouted-ok + 'ok hand sign'
WS: Cassandra i take it as ok (he still didnt get me *sweat*, i was too far fr the stage anyway)
Cass: Pull andy up
Andy: Handed the diamond ring and 99nos of roses to cass

Now i know why he wanted to wait for the live performance.
The proposal came late (3am in the morning) as the management are not able to make the announcement due to their packed schedule of performance. A heartfelt thanks to Ah-yeong, Vennance, Ah-Leow, Alvin, Vincent, Max, Sufang, Trivin, Davina and those who we unintentionally missed out to make this happen and 'dong' till 3am. (^.*)

The 'Part-tall' Days

Like most of the couples.. We quarrel over the slightest, thiny, weeny issues. He is so stubborn and notorious like a rock so hard to convince him and like to insist his own way. While for me, i didnt give way either.

Then wat to do.. Quarrel loh. Volcano erupts.. haha.. See who wan to pull down their face and give way.

One of the issue that we quarrel most is definitely abt his car. He is damn particular of the way he puts his things in the car. If i put wrongly then kena scolded. Who on earth can be similar and put things the same way. Not flexible at all. And no matter how late we reach home if it rains we juz gotta clean the car. Don't know y he is so persistant.. arghh.. But i juz gotta go along the flow. *sobz*

Lucky me, most of the time he gives way to me.. that's only when the volcano erupts ok. Nevertheless he took some effort to compromise in most of the stuffs that i don't like and things that i want he to do. At least he changed his car coz that old car causes alots of prob and he took up a part time course thou he always fall asleep in class. Hopefully, he can complete the course by end of this year. *cross fingers*

So who is HE and SHE? Lets have a brief introduction of our identity

SHE.....Its me.. I am Cassandra, u can call me Cass coz alot of ppl say me name too long *rolling eyes*. I will be the blog mistress and do most of the maintenance and updating.

I am quick tempered, considerate, go by the book, senstitive and when get angry can be like 'po fu ma jie' but dun worry only HE will kena... I remb the first time the volcano (ME) erupted he told me that no one in his life had ever scolded him this way not even his parents.Poor thing.. haha..

The poor guy HE = ANDY.

But i think he is not very ke lian after all if he dun make me angry right. hohoho.. Anyway, lets talk abt him. Since i know him, he is a freaking car lover.

Everytime after a rain he will have to clean his car coz he afraids of having water stain. So can u imagine if there is a few showers in a day he can clean his car a few times in a day too. If the rain is too heavy he can go to the extend to leave his car in the carpark and we gotta take public transport. Stupid leh. He works for the car instead of the other way round.

So when i told him abt this bloggy that i am going to do abt 'US', he told me to put in the pic of his ex-car (juz changed to a madza 3-sp mths back) which he is very proud of and had dumped tons of $$$.

From the above pic and if u r also a car lover, u can see that he likes to 'play' with cars. He always tell me a born-racer will always be a racer..blah blah..

But i am happy enough that he sold his car, thou his favourite, at abt $20k and bought mazda 3-SP.. Ahh.. at least there is much more comfort but is bloody driving skills nv change.. chiong here and there. Only put my life at risk. @.@

HE was there, so was SHE. They got to know each other through a common friend at M.O.S (Ministry of Sound). At the point of time both parties are unattached, but there's no sign of sparks. Thus, both went on with their own lives and got attached with others. One year later, they were re-introduced by the same common friend. Coincidently, both parties are unattached again. Perhaps, time was on their side this time round, they started their dating days on 15th Jan 2007.
